Complete the online application, upload your hero's photograph, and submit everything directly to Town staff.Every banner tells a story.
The Town of Long View Hero Banner Program provides families, friends, businesses, and organizations with the opportunity to publicly honor the men and women who have proudly served our nation. Whether your hero is currently serving, a veteran, retired, or has passed away, these banners ensure their service and sacrifice are remembered by our community.

Why We Created This Program
Freedom has never been free.
The Hero Banner Program is Long View's way of saying "Thank You." Each banner serves as a visible reminder of the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of those who answered the call to serve.
During patriotic holidays, these banners will proudly line our streets, creating a lasting tribute that residents and visitors alike can appreciate.
Military personnel who are:
- Active Duty
- Reserve
- National Guard
- Retired
- Honorably Discharged Veterans
- Deceased Veterans
Banner Sponsorship
Cost: $200 per banner
The sponsorship fee includes the production of the banner and helps support community beautification efforts throughout the Town of Long View.
Display Schedule
Hero Banners will be displayed during patriotic holidays throughout the year, including:
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day (July 4)
- Veterans Day
- Other patriotic observances as determined by the Town
Banner Design
Each professionally designed banner includes:
- Hero's photograph
- Name
- Branch of military service
- Military rank (if desired)
- Optional years of service (if desired)
The banners will be displayed on decorative street poles throughout the Town, creating a beautiful tribute to those who have served.
How to Participate
Getting started is easy.
- Complete the Hero Banner application.
- Submit payment. Payments can be made via cash, check, debit/credit card at Town Hall. (2404 1st Ave SW Hickory, NC 28602)
- Town staff will review the application and prepare the banner for production.
More Than a Banner
Each Hero Banner represents someone's son or daughter.
Someone's mother or father.
Someone's husband, wife, sibling, grandparent, friend, or neighbor.
Together, these banners create a living memorial that reminds us of the men and women whose service protects the freedoms we enjoy every day.
