The mission of the planning and permitting process is to manage and encourage growth that maintains quality of life for Long View's residents. All new residential, commercial and industrial development is reviewed by the department to ensure consistency with the current zoning ordinance and ensure proper infrastructure services are available.
There is currently a vacancy on the Town of Long View Planning Board for an Alternate Position. The Planning Board meets monthly to discuss development submissions that require the Planning Board's review, and to discuss other matters important to planning and development within the Town of Long View. The Planning Board meets every month on the third Thursday of the month at 6:00pm, at the Long View Town Hall. If you are interested in serving on the Planning Board, please complete the application below. We contract with Catawba County to provide all our permitting and inspections services, including those Long View addresses that are located in Burke County. The new ePermits system provides online access to permits related to commercial and residential construction, food and lodging applications, planning and zoning, among others. Users can now submit permit applications and payments and view inspection appointments and results 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Rezoning and Floodplain Development Permit applications must still be submitted using the downloadable forms. All other permit applications are accepted online through our ePermits system. CLICK HERE to access the system.
If you are a first-time user, you will need to set up a user account to access the system. If you are a building or trade contractor who has done business with us in the past five years, contact the Permit Center at 828-465-8399 or permitapps@catawbacountync.gov for an access code to link to your existing account. All other users will not need an access code.
