Library Services are Coming to Long View Town Hall!
Exciting news for Long View residents! Beginning November 1st, you’ll be able to pick up library books, audiobooks, and movies right at Long View Town Hall. This new service is made possible through a partnership with the Catawba County Library System and the Town of Long View, bringing more convenient access to library materials for the Long View community.
Residents of Catawba and Burke Counties are eligible for free library cards. If you don’t already have one, it’s easy to sign up! Visit the library’s website www.catawbacountync.gov/library and click on “Your Library Card” to request one online, or stop by the Southwest Branch Library, located in the Marketplace Church Shopping Center at 2944 Highway 127 South, Hickory.
If you already have a library card, you can call the library at 828-465-8665 to place an item on hold for pickup at Long View Town Hall. After November 1, you’ll also be able to log into your online library account to search the catalog, place holds and manage your checkouts directly.
To get started, simply place a hold on the items you’d like to borrow through the library and select Long View Town Hall as your pickup location. Once your items are ready, you’ll be notified, and you can stop by Town Hall to pick them up. When you’re finished, just return your items to Town Hall, and the library will collect them each week.
In addition to the new pickup service, the library’s Library to Go mobile unit will be making monthly visits to Long View Town Hall on the third Monday of each month. They’ll transform the Council Chambers into a Pop-Up Library, offering a great selection of books and audiobooks to browse and check out on-site. You can also sign up for a library card, attend programs, and enjoy a story time for families. Be sure to mark your calendars for the first Library to Go visit on Monday, November 17, from 9 AM to 1 PM.
And there’s more to come—the library’s Digital Navigators will be offering a basic computer skills class in the Council Chambers on Tuesday, November 18th at 10:30am. For more information, contact the Catawba County Library at 828-465-8665 or visit www.catawbacountync.gov/library.
