TOWN OF LONG VIEW AWARDED $850,000 RURAL DOWNTOWN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT
INVESTMENT MARKS HISTORIC STEP FORWARD FOR NEWLY DESIGNATED DOWNTOWN DISTRICT
Long View, NC — The Town of Long View is proud to announce it has been awarded an $850,000 Rural Downtown Economic Development Grant through the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority, marking a transformative milestone in the creation and revitalization of Long View’s officially designated Downtown District.
The grant supports the Town’s newly established Downtown area along 1st Avenue SW, from 22nd Street SW to 27th Street SW, as formally designated by the Board of Aldermen in Resolution No. 2025-03 On September 8, 2025.
This strategic investment positions Long View to reimagine its central corridor into a vibrant, walkable, and community-focused destination — one designed intentionally from the ground up to reflect both the Town’s heritage and its bold vision for the future.
A Downtown Built with Purpose
The Downtown District designation was with a clear objective: to create a cohesive, identifiable hub that supports redevelopment, leverages state resources, and strengthens community identity.
The $850,000 grant will support infrastructure and revitalization efforts within the district, helping to:
• Enhance streetscape and public infrastructure
• Improve walkability and accessibility
• Support business recruitment and retention
• Strengthen economic vitality
• Advance long-term redevelopment planning
The designation and funding also align Long View with opportunities available through the North Carolina Main Street Initiative and other state and federal programs.
A Vision Rooted in Community
Long View’s Downtown initiative is more than a development project — it is a commitment to collaboration. The Town will actively engage residents, business owners, and community stakeholders throughout implementation to ensure the Downtown reflects the shared vision and values of the community.
The defined Downtown footprint — stretching along 1st Avenue SW between 22nd and 27th Streets — serves as the foundation for a renewed sense of place and identity. The corridor will become a destination that supports local commerce, hosts community events, and enhances quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
Where Past Meets Progress
For more than a century, Long View has embraced its history while steadily evolving. This grant represents a rare opportunity: to thoughtfully design a modern downtown area that blends economic vitality with community character — preserving what makes Long View unique while building toward a dynamic future.
THIS is Long View.
THIS is momentum.
THIS is Where Past Meets Progress.
